As a result of increase of world prices
for energy resources and, first of all, for crude oil, and
also of problem of emission of greenhouse gases (first of all
CO2) in the atmosphere arisen from combustion of
organic fuel, the issue of energy resources saving is very
acute.
One of the most effective ways of electrical energy saving
is using variable frequency drives, especially for turbo machines,
which centrifugal and axial pumps, fans and compressors belong
to.
According to turbo machine affinity laws, the following relations
are valid:
Where – Q0 è Q1 -
capacities (flows),
Í0 è Í1 –
heads (pressures),
Ð0 è Ð1-
useful powers outputted by a mechanism at rated
– n0
and new
n1 rotational speed.
Power consumed from mains under variable frequency control
is calculated according to formula:
where Ð u - useful power of mechanism,
hmechmechanism efficiency, h mot -
motor efficiency,
hFC – frequency converter efficiency
(including other electrical components of variable frequency
drive, e.g. isolation transformers).
Thus, at capacity reduction of mechanism in 2 times, energy consumption under variable frequency control is reduced nearly in 8 times!
Besides energy saving by 25 – 60%, on introduction of variable
frequency drives the following results are achieved:
- Saving of motor maintenance costs
- Avoiding of breakages and damages of mechanisms and other
equipment caused by impact mechanical and electric current
loads
- Proving of optimal behavior of technological processes
and high quality of finished products
- Automation and possibility of computer control and visualization
of production processes
EOS Ltd. performs a calculation of estimated energy saving,
on the base of the data about operating profile of a mechanism,
given by consumers.
